This five-day course builds the storytelling and pitching skills that turn a good idea into a funded, resourced initiative. It covers structuring a compelling narrative, tailoring a pitch to different audiences, from boards to donors to sceptical colleagues, and handling tough questions without losing the room.
Many genuinely good ideas die not because they were flawed, but because the person pitching them could not tell a story that made a busy, sceptical decision-maker care enough to act. Technically strong proposals routinely lose out to weaker ideas presented with more confidence and a clearer narrative.
This course treats pitching as a distinct, learnable skill, separate from having a good idea. It covers how to structure a story that a decision-maker can follow and remember, how to adapt that story for different audiences and formats, and how to handle sceptical questions live without losing composure or credibility.
The course addresses pitching within the specific dynamics of African institutional decision-making, board and committee structures, donor reporting expectations, and hierarchical approval processes, so participants leave able to pitch effectively within the real structures they will actually face, not a generic investor pitch format.

No. The course is built to take participants from foundation level in delivery and confidence, alongside the narrative and structuring skills that matter just as much as delivery.
You will deliver a full, rehearsed pitch to the group on the final day, having practised and received feedback throughout the week.
No. The course specifically covers pitching to boards, donors, senior leadership and sceptical internal stakeholders, which reflects most participants' real audiences far more than an investor pitch format.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. The entire course is built around developing and delivering a pitch for a real, current idea participants bring with them.
Both. The narrative structuring principles apply to written proposals as well as live pitches, and the course addresses how to adapt the same story across formats.
Yes, and it works particularly well that way, since the team can build a shared pitching standard and practise on real, current ideas together.
