This 5-day public financial management (PFM) course covers the full budget cycle and sound management of public money: budget preparation and execution, revenue and expenditure management, public procurement, accounting and reporting standards, internal controls, audit and accountability, and fiscal discipline in the public sector.
It is designed for public-sector finance officers, budget and planning officials, accountants and auditors in government, county and devolved-government staff, parastatals and state corporations, and development partners and NGOs managing public or donor funds across Africa.
The programme is grounded in African public finance, including national and county or devolved budgeting, donor-funded programmes, IPSAS adoption, and the transparency and accountability expectations of citizens and oversight bodies, with case studies from real public-sector budgeting challenges on the continent.
You will be able to prepare and execute budgets, link budgets to policy and performance, strengthen revenue and expenditure controls, improve public-sector reporting and compliance, and support transparent, accountable use of public resources.
Both formats are available, in person in cities such as Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali, Accra, Lagos and Pretoria, and as a live online cohort. It can be delivered in-house for ministries, counties, agencies and parastatals, tailored to your PFM systems and reporting framework.
